APPLIED THEOLOGY:

AT 31 Homiletics Practicum I

John Carrick

Course Sample

Description: 2 hrs. The Homiletics Practica are modeled after the Puritan "prophesyings." Though sermons will be critiqued, it is understood that the students will be preaching for the edification of the professors and fellow students. Each student will be required, in turn, to preach a sermon in the class. An evaluation of the sermon will then follow where the emphasis will be upon constructive critique. Homiletics Practicum I must be taken before Homiletics Practicum II.
Prerequisite: AT 20.

Professor: Dr. John Carrick

Students' Comments:

  • "Well done."
  • " A difficult course to evaluate since the majority of the class was student preaching. I appreciate very much being pushed away from using a manuscript."
